Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to impress on his maiden outing in English conditions as he got out for 24, playing for the India A side against the England Lions on Day 1 of the first four-day match on May 30 (Friday) in Canterbury.
Jaiswal opened the innings for the India A team along with Abhimanyu Easwaran. Both guys were troubled a lot by Ajit Singh-Dale and Josh Hull in their opening spell. However, it was Eddie Jack, who did not even play a single first-class game before this game, who got Jaiswal eventually.
Though the India opener managed to get three fours and hit a six, his first two fours were not at all shots of confidence. Even the shot on which he got out was something you don’t expect in the first session of play in England.
He tried slogging the ball outside off and was caught by James Rew off the bowling of Jack. Earlier, Easwaran was trapped by Hull leg before wicket for eight off just 17 balls, continuing his poor form with the A side ever since the Australian tour.
