Chennai Super Kings' new batting sensation Ayush Mhatre has been named the skipper of the Mumbai first-class team that would compete in the Buchi Babu tournament in Tamil Nadu.
Mhatre, who made his Ranji Trophy debut last season for Mumbai, has already had some captaincy experience under his belt after he captained India Under-19 men on a tour to England recently, which also included Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He’ll also be the captain when the India U19 team faces Australia in a multi-format tour in late September.
17-year-old Mhatre was playing in the Kanga League Division B in Mumbai when he received the news of his selection. The squad also includes India Test batter Sarfaraz Khan, who was recently in the news for his body transformation.
Musheer Khan, his younger brother and one of the exciting all-round talents in domestic cricket in India, will also be part of Mumbai’s Buchi Babu squad.
