On Sunday (May 5), Yudhvir Singh Charak became the first-ever concussion substitute of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 after replacing Mohsin Khan, who got hit on his head while fielding.
In the 12th over of the ongoing clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the left-arm pacer injured himself attempting a catch off Ravi Bishnoi’s bowling.
Fielding at the short third-man region, the left-arm pacer flung himself full length only but couldn’t hold on to the catch. In the follow-through, Mohsin ended up smacking his head on the ground before being carried off the pitch.
Later, LSG replaced the left-arm pacer with the 26-year-old Yudhvir, who hails from Jammu, to play his fourth IPL fixture. In his first over, the speedster struck, removing Angkrish Raghuvanshi to pick his first wicket of the season.
It was only the second time in IPL history that a player has been replaced due to concussion, with Vishnu Vinod replacing Ishan Kishan earlier in the 2023 season.
