Zimbabwe's experienced trio returns for Ireland, Scotland tours

Sean Williams, Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine have all been named in the 18-man squad

The experienced trio of Sean Williams, Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine have been named in the Zimbabwe 18-man squad for the white-ball tours of Ireland and Scotland. Zimbabwe are scheduled to play five T20Is and three ODIs against Ireland from August 27 and then play three more T20Is against Scotland from September 15.

Taylor was rested for the T20I series against Bangladesh at home, while Williams and Ervine didn't feature in the entire tour (one-off Test, three ODIs and three T20Is) after coming in touch with a person with COVID-19. The 15 players who were involved in the T20I series have all been named in the squad.

Zimbabwe couldn't qualify for the upcoming T20 World Cup and will be itching to qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup. The three ODIs against Ireland will be part of the ICC ODI Super League.

Zimbabwe have won only one of their six ODIs in this cycle and are currently placed at the bottom of the points table. They were recently swept 3-0 at home by Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Ireland are at No. 7, having won three of their 12 ODIs.

Squad: Ryan Burl, Regis Chakabva, Tendai Chatara, Craig Ervine, Luke Jongwe, Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, Wessly Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tarisai Musakanda, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Sikandar Raza, Milton Shumba, Brendan Taylor, Sean Williams, Donald Tiripano.
