Alongside Zondo, Lizaad Williams and Daryn Dupavillon too have made the squad, with the regulars – Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen – missing due to their involvement in the IPL. Earlier this season, Zondo left an indelible mark on the selectors, scoring 203 in the clash against Western Province.
Dupavillon, on the other hand, returns to the squad having made the list during South Africa’s series against Pakistan. The pace bowler, who has picked up 214 FC wickets would be in line to make his debut during the series opener. Although the Proteas would be without the services of Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen, they would be boosted by the return of Keegan Petersen.
Dean Elgar remains the skipper of the side, as the first Test between the two sides begins on March 31 (Thursday).
