First points on the board for the Patriots then. They stay at the bottom though. We have a bit of a break now, with a wounded Jamaica Tallawahs ready to take on Guyana Amazon Warriors for revenge at 5.30 pm local (2130 GMT). Do join us back at that time. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Victorious St Kitts And Nevis Patriots captain, Rayad Emrit, is happy that they could register their first win. Stresses that finally, one set batsan could bat through and the effect showed. On the Lewis-Ramdin stand, Emrit says that it was an important partnership but perhaps they batted a bit slow in the middle overs. But adds that they had the confidence in Lewis that he could make up for that. On the young Jon-Russ Jaggesar, Rayad says that he is a great talent but overall, he believes that they gave 15 runs a bit too many. On the pitch, Emrit says that this is not a slow one like Tarouba but has something in it for both, bowlers and batsmen.
Barbados Tridents skipper, Jason Holder, feels that 151 was a par score. Perhaps 5-10 runs shy but he believes his team fought hard. Feels that it was not an easy wicket to bat on and definitely not one where you could start hitting from the word go. Believes that unlike the Patriots, no one from his team could convert their start. Believes that the bowlers did really well and feels sad for the young Nyeem Young, who was doing exceptionally well till that final over.
EVIN LEWIS HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Lewis says that it great to have won the game. Says that he was looking to give a good start and then make use of that, staying till the end. On his partnership with Ramdin, Evin says that Ramdin is the main batsman in the middle order with Dunk coming in towards the end to finish things off. Believes that this win could change their fortunes around in this tournament. Ends by saying that he enjoyed his innings as he always backs himself to do well on this ground.
Please stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier, the Tridents huffed and puffed their way to 151/7. It was a team effort with batsmen making 20s and stitching on decent partnerships. Newbie Jaggesar was the most effective bowler, with 2 wickets.
Jason Holder tried everything. First, he bowled a frugal spell, trying to contain the batsmen. Then, he had Rashid Khan bamboozle in the middle overs. But then, he tried to give confidence to the youngsters, like the Walshs, Reifers, Youngs and the Mayers. They did decently too, except for that final over. But why overlook Santner? Santner bowled just 2 overs. He could have done better with Ramdin on strike.
Lewis' change in gear put the Tridents on the back foot. Holder started to run out of ideas but then, the heat started taking its toll. Both, Ramdin and Lewis started to tire down and were mistiming their shots. From a position of great strength, the Patriots lost their way, with 20 needed from 9 balls. However, a little bit of nervous bowling in the last over helped them get through.
The Patriots were in trouble at 41/2 in the Powerplay but Lewis found an able ally in Denesh Ramdin. The duo added 78 for the third wicket, of which Lewis scored 56! The plan was clear, give the strike to Lewis and Lewis alone.
152 was supposed to be a tricky total to chase on this deck. 140 was considered to be a winning one. Chris Lynn and Evin Lewis strode out and did what they always do - bash the ball. That 34-run opening stand gave some momentum but after that, it was all Lewis.
Phew. If looks could tell. Sohail Tanvir's face tells everything. He looks extremely relieved this game is done and he is not on strike! What a game, folks. A flowing start, then a choke and then the rise.

Nyeem Young to Ben Dunk ,SIX! PATRIOTS WIN BY 6 WICKETS! A length ball, around middle, Dunk pulls it over square leg and clears the ropes! Relief on the face of Tanvir. The Patriots finally open their account in CPL 2020.
Change in field. Square leg drops back.

Nyeem Young to Ben Dunk ,SIX! Is that a match-winning shot? Full and outside off, Dunk goes over the off side and clears cover! That is an intelligent shot. You know that Young is trying to angle the ball across you, so don't go cross-batted. 6 needed from 4 deliveries.

Nyeem Young to Ben Dunk ,SAFE AS A HOUSE. A length ball, outside off, Ben looks to pull but misses. He looks for the bye but is sent back as Shai Hope has a shy at the stumps. He hits and it is referred upstairs. Replays show that Dunk is back in. 12 needed from 5 balls.
Is that a run out? No one seems overly excited. Yes, the replays show why. Dunk is safely in.

Nyeem Young to Ben Dunk ,WIDE. Reload. Full and wide outside off, Dunk looks to reach out to steer it to third man but misses. 12 needed from 6 balls.
Right...final over, 12 to defend. Can Mayers do what Holder did last night? The Tridents were 145/6 at this stage. They got just 6 from their final over. Wil that come back to haunt them?

Sohail Tanvir has been promoted to number 6. He replaces Lewis.

Kyle Mayers to Evin Lewis ,UP, UP AND OUT! Is that the game? Full and outside off, slower one, Lewis looks to go big but his tired hands cannot summon enough power on the shot. Kyle Mayers to Denesh Ramdin ,OUT! CAUGHT! Straight down the throat. Ramdin falls and the 78-run stand is broken. A short ball, outside off, Ramdin pulls it away but it is straight to Hayden Walsh at deep mid-wicket. Does not have to move an inch. Pouches it safely. Nyeem Young to Evin Lewis ,SIX MINUS FIVE! What an effort from Mitchell Santner. A full toss, around off, Lewis looks to pull this away but miscues it slightly. The ball goes in the air and Santner from wide long on and Rashid from deep mid-wicket get across for the catch. They look at the ball but not at each other, hence, collide. Rashid goes outside the boundary but Santner catches the ball. However, he realizes that he is going to touch the rope, so flicks the ball back! Unfortunately, there is no one to catch that. The umpire checks whether Santner is fine and he really is! Just a single taken.

DRINKS BREAK. Wow. The Patriots can actually think they can win. They are planning this chase of 152 to near perfection. First, a decent opening stand and then one of the openers making it count. 78 needed in 60 balls and with the likes of Kelly, Dunk, Tanvir and Emrit, you should back the chasing side. The Tridents need a miracle. Perhaps a flurry of wickets. Here is Raymon Reifer as their 5th bowler.

Right! 152 to win for the Patriots! They would be dearly wanting to win their first game of the tournament. They will want runs from the top order batters. Tridents, on the other hand, would think they have enough on the board. They have quality spinners in their side and that promises to be an exciting run chase. Join us in a bit.
The Patriots were excellent with the ball early on! Jaggesar was their pick of the bowlers as he finished with 17 for 2 in his 4 overs. Emrit too kept things tight and got a reward in the form of wicket of dangerous Anderson. Joseph and Imran were taken for a few runs but they weren't too bad either. Imran who delivered the final over of the innings gave just 6 under pressure.
After winning the toss, Emrit asked the opposition to set a total. The start for the Tridents was not a massive one as Hope struggled a bit to time the ball. However, a couple of boundaries in between helped them get 39 in the Powerplay! However, Jaggesar struck twice in 2 overs to hamper the Tridents' progress. Mayers looked good for his 22 before he was caught behind off Tanvir. Holder got run out in an unfortunate fashion. However, Anderson and Nurse with their superb 50-plus stand took the Tridents to a very good score. Anderson played a top knock of 31 in just 19 balls.
Just 15 from the last 2 overs, despite a six on the 1st ball of the 19th over. Fine finish for the Patriots with the ball. However, the Tridents would still believe they have got a fine total on the board on a wicket that has looked a bit slow and with so many spinners in the team, they would feel they do have enough on the board.

Jon-Russ Jaggesar to Shai Hope ,NOT OUT! Hope was going off but he is safe. A tossed up ball around off, Hope gives it a charge and looks to slam it over the leg side but he misses as the ball turns away. Ramdin quickly whips the bails off and appeals. The third umpire has been called for. The replays show that the timing of the bails coming off and Hope's bat getting down is almost the same. So, the third umpire gives the benefit of the doubt to the batter.
What happened here? Hope appears to have been stumped and was walking off but the bat is in as per the replays and he has to make his way back to the crease as the decision is Not Out on the big screen.
A good start for both the teams so far one can say. The Patriots looked to be struggling a bit but since Hope found the middle of his bat, they have scored decent runs in the Powerplay. They'd hope to continue doing so. Patriots would be eager to break the opening stand.

We are all set for the action to begin! The umpires walk out, followed by the Patriots' players and the two openers for the Tridents, Shai Hope and Johnson Charles. The players take a knee in support of the 'Black Lives Matter' movement. Sohail Tanvir will start with the ball. Here we go...
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (Playing XI) - Chris Lynn, Evin Lewis, Joshua Da Silva, Nick Kelly (IN PLACE OF KIERAN POWELL), Denesh Ramdin (WK), Ben Dunk, Sohail Tanvir, Rayad Emrit (C), Imran Khan (IN PLACE OF ISH SODHI), Jon-Russ Jaggesar, Alzarri Joseph (IN PLACE OF SHELDON COTTRELL).
Barbados Tridents (Playing XI) - Johnson Charles, Shai Hope (WK), Corey Anderson, Kyle Mayers, Jason Holder (C), Ashley Nurse, Raymon Reifer, Nyeem Young (IN PLACE OF JONATHAN CARTER), Mitchell Santner, Rashid Khan, Hayden Walsh.
Danny Morrison is there for the pitch report. He says that the pitch looks superb. Adds that with rain around, the groundsmen have done a terrific job. Feels that there is a hint of live grass. Feels it will be a bit on the slower side but feels with sun out, the batters can go all guns blazing.
Jason Holder, Barbados Tridents, skipper, says that it is new ground and a new surface. Tells that they want to be positive and personally wants the players to stick to their tasks. Adds that Nayeem Young makes a debut and he replaces Jonathan Carter.
Rayad Emrit, the Patriots' skipper, says that they will bowl first and they have made four changes. Tells that they have been involved in a few meetings to figure out what went wrong so far. Adds that he is ready to use the cutters here as well. Goes onto say that they will try to do their best.
Toss - Up goes the coin and it lands in favour of the Patriots. They have elected to bowl first.
A new venue! Will it change the fortunes of the Patriots? They will certainly want it to as time is running out for them. They have lost their games so far and they need to pull their socks up to get back in the tournament. The Tridents have not done any better as they are also struggling at the bottom of the table and need to make a move up. Both teams will be eager to do well and show that they are still in contention in this year's CPL. Will the Patriots open their account finally in CPL 2020 or will the Tridents move up the ladder? Toss and team updates in a while.
