What does Wednesday have in store for us? DJ Bravo. DJ Bravo. Yes, the Trinbago Knight Riders are back in action and they take on St Lucia Zouks at 10 am local (1400 GMT). Then at 5.30 pm local (2130 GMT), the Tallawahs are back, this time to face Barbados Tridents. Do join us at those said times. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
End of the Tuesday double header. Patriots sneaked a nail-biting win in the morning, over the Tridents, while the Tallawahs and the Warriors competed pretty well to claim a prize for poorer batting. Jamaica have won but that does nothing much to their position in the table, as they stay 4th and Guyana, 3rd. However, it does take their net run rate into positive.
Victorious Jamaica Tallawahs skipper, Rovman Powell, says he is happy, especially after what happened in the previous encounter. Praises Fidel Edwards and Mujeeb Ur Rahman for the early blows with the ball. Bluntly says that the team is not happy with the way this total was chased down with the batsmen just throwing their wickets away through some poor shot-making. Wants his team to put in the hard yards during training. On Chadwick Walton's poor form, Powell smiles and says that he is not concerned yet as Walton has looked in good touch at the nets.
Guyana Amazon Warriors captain, Chris Green, admits that early wickets cost his team the match as they lost momentum and could never consolidate, except during that stand between Pooran and Taylor. Feels that it was a 130-wicket but 108 was way below par and batters need to stand up now. On the wicket, Green reckons that it was slow and low which put doubts in the minds of the batsmen, who could not decide whether to attack or defend. Further says that there were too many dot balls than usual in this game because of that. Wants his batsmen to learn from how Evin Lewis played his knock for the Patriots earlier in the day and play a long innings. Praises the efforts of the fielders and bowlers and just wants his batsmen to bat better.
MUJEEB UR RAHMAN HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH.
Who would be your Man Of The Match? Edwards? Mujeeb? Bonner? The presentation is coming up...
Earlier, another poor batting display saw the Warriors make just 108/9. Only three batsmen reached double figures with Fidel Edwards and Mujeeb Ur Rahman sharing 6 wickets between themselves. They may have a great bowling attack, the Warriors, but that just does not mean the batsmen keep putting on average scores.
Cannot honestly say whether the Warriors bowled really well or not because most of the wickets were due to abject batting. The Tallawahs have just two aspects to their batting - dots or boundaries. Not much in between. Even here, they consumed 55 dot balls out of 108. A bit too much. Imran Tahir and Ashmead Nedd were the pick of the bowlers, not giving much, while the others were not as effective, as they were in the previous encounter.
Bonner and Russell played it perfectly. Whether the target is 109 or 209, you need to spend some time in the middle, even if it be a belter of a pitch. And players like Russell can always catch up, as we have witnessed so many times in the past. Sweet striking towards the end from both these batsmen would have given some sort of a lift to that net run rate. They added an unbeaten 51 for the 6th wicket.
Talking about working on the batting, Jamaica too, need to have a look. They cannot be dependent on Andre Russell and need to bat more sensibly. They picked an extra batsman in Jermaine Blackwood but even then, the approach was shocking, with no batsman in the top 5, barring Blackwood, looking to stay out in the middle.
Not the most comfortable of wins for the Tallawahs but they will take it. Too many strokes being played, leading to a harakiri of sorts, before a sensible partnership saw them home. The Warriors suffer another loss and their batting has a lot of working to be done.

Naveen-ul-Haq to Jermaine Blackwood ,OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Commentators' curse strikes Blackwood. From showing his teammates how to play classy strokes, he now joins them in playing rash strokes and getting out. Nothing special about this delivery. It is full and wide outside off. Blackwood just looks to smash this, with his feet stuck on the crease. The result is a bottom edge. The keeper, Anthony Bramble, comes forward and takes it. The keeper and bowler celebrate but Blackwood is not going anywhere. Now, Guyana appeal and umpire Joel Wilson asks them to calm down. He has a chat with his partner regarding the legality of the catch and then refers it upstairs, asking the third umpire whether that has carried, with the soft signal as out. The first replay is clear enough to show that the ball has carried but the third umpire takes numerous replays to just re-confirm again and again. Eventually, OUT flashes on the giant screen. 47 more needed from 58 balls.
Is that a catch? The umpires are not sure. They refer it upstairs with the soft signal as OUT! Looks pretty good from the replays.

10.1
Naveen-ul-Haq to Jermaine Blackwood ,FOUR! CLASSY! Blackwood is showing his own teammates, how to play a proper cricketing shot, without being ultra-aggressive. Full and outside off, Blackwood leans and drives it to the left of mid off. The fielder dives to his left but misses. 47 more needed from 59 balls. Blackwood moves to 23 from 18 deliveries.
Naveen-ul-Haq is back on. 1-0-10-1 so far.
DRINKS BREAK. The scorecard might indicate that Guyana are making a match out of this. But if truth be told, Jamaica are making a meal out of this. They are just looking to assert their dominance and adopt an ultra-aggressive approach and in the process, keeping gifting wickets away. Still, they would have to provide a few more of such gifts if the Warriors fancy a win. Just 51 needed from 60 balls.

Okay guys! Welcome back. How many overs will this run chase last? 108 to defend. Can the Warriors make a fist of this? The skipper, Chris Green, is up first. Glenn Phillips and Chadwick Walton are the openers, who have an excellent opportunity to cash in for fliers. Phillips to face.

Hmmm... a critic, isn't Edwards? They have bowled brilliantly to keep Guyana to 108. It is highly unlikely that Jamaica will struggle to chase a sub-par score twice in a row, but expect the Warriors to offer some fight.
Fidel Edwards feels that his team did really well, right from the start. Hopes that the batsmen chase it down. On his very first ball in this game, Edwards says that the coach had asked him to be on target from the word go. Stresses that he has been working hard for the last 5 years, where he has done well but flopped as well. He is just trying to enjoy himself. On his team's spinners, he calls the duo of Mujeeb and Lamichhane as brilliant and does not want to talk further. Is very harsh on his own team and says that they could have restricted the Warriors to much less!
The opening bowlers did the bulk of the job. Fidel Edwards and Mujeeb Ur Rahman took 3 wickets apiece. Fidel took 2 in his first 2 overs itself. Here he is, having a small chat.
Ross Taylor and Nicholas Pooran tried a brief bit of resurrection in the middle, adding 38 for the 4th wicket, but once Pooran fell to Mujeeb, a procession followed. The lower order then managed to bat out their 20 overs at least, taking the score past 100.
Hmmm... a sub-standard batting performance. The tone for that was set from ball 1, where Fidel Edwards cleaned up Brandon King. The innings never took off after that.

Rovman Powell to Imran Tahir ,OUT! A run out to end the innings. Tahir drives it towards long on and sprints across for the couple. The ball should have been dead there but the keeper tries a back-flick which misses the stumps at the striker's end. Now, Naveen wants the third but Tahir is not running at all, because he thinks the innings is over. He sets off late, after Naveen has joined him at his end, giving enough time for Glenn Phillips to recover the ball and throw it to Powell, who disturbs the stumps at the bowler's end. GUYANA AMAZON WARRIORS FINISH ON 108/9!

Rovman Powell to Imran Tahir ,Good save in the end then! Full and around off, Tahir gets down and makes a mighty mow. It does look a good connection but Chadwick Walton runs across to his left from deep mid-wicket. Takes the catch but then realizes that he is about to touch the ropes. Throws the ball back in play towards substitute Ramaal Lewis, who is running in from wide long on. He cannot take the catch as the ball drops down. Walton is looking sheepish while Lewis signals a six! But the umpires refer it upstairs and replays show that perhaps Walton's left foot was touching the ropes, before he threw the ball. However, the third umpire thinks otherwise.
Six? Or tremendous effort? Has Chadwick Walton touched the ropes? Seems so, from the replays as the third umpire checks...

Glenn Phillips takes the bails off and appeals for the run out. It is referred upstairs but no angle is conclusive as to when the bails are actually removed. DRINKS BREAK. Not surprising at all. Guyana in all sorts of trouble. Again, we are staring a low-scoring contest with the Warriors involved. They have inexperienced batsmen at the top and their best batsmen are always trying to resurrect an innings. How much can they get from here? Someone needs to play a blinder to triple this score from here. Anything below 150, well, is not going to be defended every day.

Fidel Edwards to Anthony Bramble ,OUT! CAUGHT! The plan works. Two balls ago, Edwards had a deep backward square leg and a deep mid-wicket. The previous one was a full ball, a double bluff. Not this one. This one is sharp and short, outside off. Bramble loves that length and instinctively goes for the pull. For a change, he connects well too. But it is straight down the throat of Rovman Powell at deep mid-wicket! For all his million shots played, Bramble goes for 7 from 19.

Fidel Edwards to Anthony Bramble ,Double bluff. Edwards goes full, swings it in, but down the leg side. The tactic works though. Anthony is expecting the short ball and is completely taken aback, by this length. Is late on his flick and is hit on the pads. There is an appeal for LBW but that was going down the leg side.
Fielding change. Because Brandon King has attempted the pull shot plenty of times already, Rovman Powell has a deep mid-wicket and a deep backward square leg for him.

Fidel Edwards to Anthony Bramble ,He keeps on playing that shot, without connecting too many. He is early into his pull shot this time. The ball skids off the deck and hits the bottom edge. Goes to the off side.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Shimron Hetmyer ,OUT! LBW! Two down. Both the opening bowlers have one each. This one though, might get down as a lucky one for Mujeeb. The arm ball, around middle, Hetmyer looks to defend but misses and is hit on the pads. Mujeeb appeals, the umpire thinks long and hard and then raises his finger! Replays indicate that it might have. possibly, missed the leg stump. But cannot be sure. Terrific start by Jamaica.

Fidel Edwards to Anthony Bramble ,Massive appeal for LBW! Turned down. What is the umpire signalling? Nothing. Bat involved. Cracker of an inswinger, terrific length, the yorker, Bramble just about gets something on that as the ball hits his pads. A single taken towards the leg side. A fiery opener from Edwards!

Fidel Edwards to Shimron Hetmyer ,FOUR! This is what happens when you try to do too much with what is happening out in the middle. Edwards is excited about the swing available and is trying too hard to be too full. This one does not land at all. A full toss, outside off, Hetmyer just eases it through the covers.

Fidel Edwards to Brandon King ,OUT! BOWLED! Through him! It is Fidel magic as he strikes on the very first ball. Looseners? What looseners? Let's great professional, mate! Fast, outswinging, yorker. Right at the batsman's toes. Poor King has barely any time to see that. And before he can understand what is happening, the ball goes beneath his bat, swinging away and shatters the stumps! What a start for the Tallawahs.
All set then. Edwards to King first up. We expect some swing from Edwards.
The players make their way out to the middle. Newcomer Anthony Bramble will be opening the Guyanese innings along with Brandon King. Fidel Edwards will start off proceedings for the Tallawahs. The players now bend a knee for the worldwide movement of 'Black Lives Matter'.
PITCH REPORT - Samuel Badree is at the pitch but he wants the Tallawahs' Glenn Phillips to do the report. Phillips feels that the pitch looks like an absolute belter but is also prepared for the fact that this could be slow and low as many pitches in the Caribbean are. Reckons 150 is the base par score here.
Jamaica Tallawahs (Playing XI) - Chadwick Walton, Glenn Phillips(WK), Nkrumah Bonner, Rovman Powell(C), Asif Ali, Jermaine Blackwood (IN FOR OSHANE THOMAS), Carlos Brathwaite, Andre Russell, Sandeep Lamichhane, Fidel Edwards and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
Guyana Amazon Warriors (Playing XI) - Brandon King, Anthony Bramble (IN FOR CHANDRAPAUL HEMRAJ), Shimron Hetmyer, Ross Taylor, Nicholas Pooran(WK), Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul, Chris Green(C), Naveen-ul-Haq (IN FOR ODEAN SMITH), Imran Tahir and Ashmead Nedd.
Guyana Amazon Warriors captain, Chris Green, says that this is a new day and new venue. Informs tha Anthony Bramble comes in for Chandrapaul Hemraj. Gives insights that Bramble was with the Warriors last season and has been hitting the ball cleanly in the nets. Says that their goal is to put pressure on the opposition's top order with a quality bowling attack. Feels that the pitch is usually low and slow here but is also aware of the fact that it gets dewy under nights, so it will be a good challenge for his bowlers.
Jamaica Tallawahs skipper, Rovman Powell, says that chasing is their strength, hence the reason. On the previous match's debacle, Powell says that the discussions were that himself, Asif Ali and Glenn Phillips will handle the bulk of their batting while Andre Russell and Carlos Brathwaite can take care of the death overs. Informs that they have made one change, with Oshane Thomas missing out and Jermaine Blackwood replacing him.
TOSS - Time for the spin of the coin. Rovman Powell flips it, HEADS is the call from Chris Green, but it is a TAIL. JAMAICA TALLAWAHS WILL CHASE.
WEATHER - The conditions are brilliant at Port Of Spain. No threat of rain.
We are all set for game number 12 of CPL, 2020. Guyana taking on Jamaica. The last time around, we witnessed a shocker with Guyana beating Jamaica. The double shock was that they defended 118! The Tallawahs would be hurt. They would be raring to make it evens-stevens.
