Yes. You are reading it right. UAE are 1-0 up in this 4-match ODI series. Who would have thought? After losing 6 on the trot, the Emiratis finally pulled off a win over Ireland for the first time in this format. It was an intriguing game, which saw three centuries and nothing much for the bowlers. The side which had more centurions won and rightly so. UAE were in the doldrums at 51/3, chasing 270 but two experienced personnel in Chundangapoyil Rizwan and Muhammad Usman bailed them out with a big stand. Having said that, one feels that Ireland were not attacking. They seemed to be more content with giving opportunities to new players, rather than putting up their best bowlers upfront. Still, they would believe that should have won. The fielding was disappointing with catches going down and run outs being missed. Expect more experimentation from the Irish come Sunday but one can definitely look for an improved display. As far as the UAE are concerned, they will be revelling with their win but it was not jut due to two individuals. They bowled brilliantly as well and stifled Ireland in the middle overs. They will be looking to do the basics right.
