David Willey, the victorious captain of Northern Superchargers, says that it's great to get on the board. Mentions that they did well at the halfway stage and calls it a tricky pitch where it was not easy to bat fluently. Praises Harry Brook for his knock and says that he loves scoring runs. Willey wants his team to build on this victory and get on a winning streak. Thanks the crowd for all the support and is expecting the same in the coming games.
Harry Brook is chosen for the Man of the Match award for his responsibly knock in the chase. He says that it is always nice to contribute to a win and cheekily says that he is surprised to get this award as he thought Adil Rashid will get it for his outstanding bowling. Shares that the plan with Lynn was to just keep ticking the runs and go big at the end. Tells that they wanted their first win and are delighted to get it in front of the home crowd. Adds that it is nice to end games and he is glad his hard work is paying off.
It was a day to forget for Oval Invincibles. They were anything but invincible with the bat and in the field. Their batting innings struggled for momentum throughout and apart from a late flourish, there was nothing to write home about them. Their fielding was equally abysmal as we saw plenty of misfields and a few dropped catches. Oval will have to pull up their socks if they want to bounce back.
It was a tricky pitch and the target of 128 was also tricky. Northern Superchargers didn't start well as they lost Adam Lyth and David Willey in quick time. Chris Lynn, the marauder from Australia, didn't look at his devastating best and showed the other side of his batting. He calmly formed a 74-run stand with Harry Brook and the latter played the role of the aggressor. The departure of the Aussie immediately followed by the wicket of Dane Vilas allowed a sniff to Oval Invincibles but John Simpson came out with aggressive intent and partnered with Brook to take Northern Superchargers home. With this victory, the Superchargers pulled themselves up from rock bottom and move to the fifth spot.
Northern Superchargers have registered their first win of the season and have also ended the invincibility of the Invincibles! The crowd here at Headingley has gone bonkers. The fireworks go off and the Superchargers are celebrating their first two points.
