There are a few tears of happiness and Oval Invincibles Women are taking a lap around the boundary. The crowd is getting behind them and it is a sight to behold!
Oval Invincibles Women had a dream day with the ball. Marizanne Kapp picked 3 wickets in the first 10 balls to put them well on top of the game. After that, Dane Van Niekerk, Shabnim Ismail and Alice Capsey all got wickets and there were also a couple of run outs in the mix. They did drop a couple of catches but were very good in the field overall. In the end, it was fitting that Marizanne Kapp took the final wicket and sealed the game. This was also the best bowling figures in the women's competiton.
Southern Brave Women had the worst of starts as they lost Danni Wyatt, Sophia Dunkley and Gaby Lewis in the first 10 balls itself. Even after that, there was no rebuilding as they kept losing wickets regularly. Stafanie Taylor was the only one who tried to get them back in the game but she kept running out of partners at the other end. The required run rate kept climbing up and the game kept slipping away from them. Southern Brave Women were great in the earlier stage of the competition but were unable to deal with the pressure of the finale.
We have our winners! Oval Invincibles Women members get in a huddle! They have won the final convincingly and deserve all the praise that comes their way. Absolutely sensational performance by them and they are delighted. Southern Brave Women, on the other hand, put on a sorry show in the final and would be very disappointed with the way they played here.
