Right then, that is all we have from this game. The action will continue on Monday, the 8th of August and it will be London Spirit going up against Manchester Originals. That game will start at 11 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT). Our build-up though begins in advance. So do join us for the same. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Sam Billings, the skipper of Oval Invincibles says it is all about using the pitch. Adds Narine bowled well and he was practicing in the nets on a similar pitch. Applauds the knock of Jacks. Admits they used to lose too many wickets up top in the last season. Says the slower balls and variations were working well for them and Tom Curran used it very well. On Jason Roy, he says he's a world-class player. They have seen him for so long dominate and they feel it's only a matter of time. Again applauds Jacks knock and says he has huge potential.
Will Jacks is the Player of the Match. He says it was a great crowd and it was important to bounce back. Adds that the plan was to take the game deep. Applauds the performance of Sam Curran and says he came when the team was losing wickets and they needed to build a partnership. They just talked about not to take risks. Shares that the fielding team always feels pressure when there are wickets in hand. Tells that he won't be available for the next match as they have a four-day game against South Africa.
Stay tuned for the Presentation...
Earlier in the day, Will Jacks powered Oval Invincibles to a competitive total. Welsh Fire needed someone to replicate that type of innings but no one fired and in the end, Oval Invincibles won comprehensively. Welsh Fire now sit bottom of the table with two losses in two.
Oval Invincibles had all the momentum after the innings break. They were boosted by Will Jacks' superb innings and need to bowl tight. The bowlers did what the skipper asked. Kept it tight and didn't allow any batter to settle in. The Curran brothers, Tom and Sam were excellent with the ball. While Sunil Narine was as usual at his best and picked three wickets. Overall, complete performance and Oval Invincibles will be very happy.
Welsh Fire's batting didn't click at all as they were nowhere near to the total. All the batters struggled lately to make an impact. The top three got a start but no one made a significant impact to keep the run rate in check. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and in the end failed to have a sniff near the target. Welsh Fire lost the likes of Ollie Pope and David Miller very cheaply and no one made a huge impact to take the game till the deep.
A comprehensive win by Oval Invincibles as they open their account for this season after some excellent performance both with the bat and ball.
