Phil Simmons admitted the same, however, added that there were glimpses of what they can do in the future.&quot;It&#39;s difficult,&quot; Simmons said. &quot;But I think we have three more matches [against New Zealand]. After that we will sit down and make decisions as to who fits into the way we want to play.&quot;I think the three matches will be important for a lot of players as well as some players who will be rested. India secured their 13th T20I win in the last 15 matches against Windies and bagged the series 4-1 in Florida. Arshdeep Singh featured in all five games in the T20I series, and even though he bagged only seven wickets, he was economical, which allowed other bowlers to put a choke on Windies&rsquo; free-flowing style.&nbsp;That earned him the Player of the Series award in only the second series for Team India and Arshdeep credited his clarity of thought behind the same.&ldquo;We executed our planning perfectly. My biggest takeaway from the series is to keep my own thought process clear. I don&rsquo;t want to complicate things. Tried to keep things simple. As Rahul Dravid sir says we are a processed based team so I stick with my process. I don&#39;t try to think much about other things while bowling,&rdquo; Arshdeep said in the post-match press conference.&ldquo;The talk is to be adaptable. We have to do whatever the demand of the wicket and the team is. We do what the captain and coaches tell us. India won the five-match T20I series 4-1:India&rsquo;s most successful yearThere has been plenty of criticism against Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid for experimenting a lot. But, those have been put to rest by India&rsquo;s strong results against South Africa, England and West Indies.<img src="https://images-cricketcom.imgix.net/1659952551903-articleimg" style="width: 700px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-fil">Since the start of 2022, India hadn&rsquo;t lost a single T20I till the start of IPL in March. Post the IPL, apart from their two losses against South Africa, one loss against England and one loss in this series, India have won all their remaining 16 encounters (one no-result against South Africa). The 16 wins this year are the most for India in a calendar year of T20I.Indian spinners script historyIn the first four matches of this series, Indian spinners had bagged only 11 wickets. In the fifth T20I alone, they bagged all 10 wickets of the innings. By doing so, Indian spinners were the first to pick up all 10 -wickets of an innings in Men&rsquo;s T20I. Apart from the second T20I, India managed to score in excess of 8.5 runs per over in the remaining four.By virtue of it, India were able to score over 185 thrice in this series. This was the first T20I series in which India achieved this feat. Among full member nations (Test playing team), India were the fifth team to hit 185+ totals thrice in a series. Overall, among full member nations, Sri Lanka in 2019 and 2021, had nine different opening duos, the most for a team.McCoy&rsquo;s extreme endsIn the only win for the West Indies, McCoy played a massive role. In the second T20I, he ripped through India&rsquo;s top order in the powerplay and came back to finish off things at the back end.&nbsp;<img src="https://images-cricketcom.imgix.net/1659909706366-articleimg" style="width: 700px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-fil">In that match, he registered a spell of 6/17, the best by a West Indian, and the best by a left-arm pacer in T20Is. In his four over spell, he conceded 66 runs for his two wickets, which is the worst spell by a West Indian bowler in T20Is.INDIVIDUAL RECORDS ON COURSE THIS SERIESIn the first T20I, Rohit scored his first half-century of the year in all T20s after 23 innings. This turned out to be his 31st score of over 50, which is the most for a player in T20Is.In the second T20I, Rohit became the second Indian captain after Shikhar Dhawan against Sri Lanka in 2021, to suffer a golden duck. His economy of 15.7 was the second worst for an Indian bowler in an innings (3+ overs).In the third T20I, Hardik Pandya became the first Indian player to score 500 runs and pick up 50+ wickets in the shortest format.In the fourth T20I, before being dismissed, Rohit smashed his 477th international six, which is now the second most by a player after Chris Gayle. The sight of Kuldeep Yadav in tears, distraught, being consoled by his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammates and support staff after Moeen Ali tore him apart in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 is a crucial part of the wrist spinner&rsquo;s journey.&nbsp;While that was a confidence-shattering blow, with his wicket of Babar Azam in the 2019 World Cup &ndash; a ball drifting away and then spinning in between bat and bowl to disturb the timber of one of the world&rsquo;s best &ndash; it seemed as though the IPL blow was just a minor blip.After all, not too long before that, India head coach Ravi Shastri, following the drawn Sydney Test, had said Kuldeep will be India&rsquo;s No.1 spinner overseas going forward.&nbsp;&ldquo;I was very impressed with the way Kuldeep bowled in Sydney. Even in Test cricket, it is going to be the age of wrist spin, especially in overseas Test cricket. The way he bowled in Sydney, he becomes our number one spinner in overseas Test cricket,&rdquo; Shastri said of Kuldeep who had registered figures of 5 for 99.In a team that over the years have had Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja win India matches for fun, those comments from Shastri would certainly have been music to Kuldeep&rsquo;s ears.&nbsp;Unfortunately, Kuldeep has played just one more Test since then against England (home). His appearances in white-ball cricket too has been limited, having played just nine matches since then.Finally given an opportunity in the fifth T20I against West Indies, Kuldeep&rsquo;s guile and accuracy was on full display as the West Indies batters failed to pick him and were left red-faced. He bowled largely in the good length areas, which the batters found difficult to negotiate with many waiting to read him off the pitch.&nbsp;<img src="https://images-cricketcom.imgix.net/1659904951866-articleimg" style="width: 600px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib">One could argue that Axar Patel had done the damage in the powerplay before Kuldeep was introduced, but in the larger context, Kuldeep needed this to prove that his slowly getting back to the deceiving bowler we knew him to be.Along with Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep formed a lethal bowling combination, taking centre stage, especially after India&rsquo;s loss in the 2017 Champions Trophy final. India&rsquo;s focus from finger-spinners turned to wrist-spinners &ndash; a revolution that has fetched them a lot of success.&nbsp;Since the Champions trophy 2017 till India&rsquo;s last match before the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, no bowler had picked up more wickets than Kuldeep (104). Even in T20Is, only Rashid Khan (47) and Chahal (44) had picked up more wickets than Kuldeep (39) during this period.&nbsp;While Chahal has raced ahead of Kuldeep since then in both formats, Kuldeep continues to toil and if Chahal was not rested for the West Indies T20Is, we may not have seen Kuldeep make the cut.With Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Shakib Al Hasan in their ranks, Kuldeep did not find a place in KKR&rsquo;s XI in IPL 2021 and any chances of a comeback has further deteriorated after he had to undergo a knee surgery in Mumbai.IPL 2022 gave Kuldeep a new lease of life when Delhi Capitals (DC) decided to take a punt on someone who has not played too many competitive matches in some time, but was a proven performer in the IPL. He did not disappoint as he finished as his franchise&rsquo;s leading wicket-taker with 21 scalps, striking once every 14.1 deliveries.A fit and in-form Kuldeep could have been a handy option in the T20 World Cup last year, ahead of someone like Varun Chakravarthy, who despite impressing in the IPL had very less impact at the mega event.But Kuldeep will look to throw his ring in the hat for a place in the T20 World Cup 2022. He has the ODIs in Zimbabwe and home series against Australia and South Africa to prove his worth.&nbsp;The current team management have not shied away from making a host of changes in order to see what everyone around the squad is worth. Kuldeep had his chance in the dead rubber against West Indies and may yet have a point to prove moving forward.Kuldeep has the advantage of being one of the few left-arm wrist-spinning bowlers in world cricket today. With him in the side, India have all sorts of varieties covered, including that of useful left-arm pacer in Arshdeep Singh.&nbsp;While it may be premature to make the call, but Kuldeep Yadav 2.0 could be as deadly as he was couple of years ago, if not more. We didn&#39;t come up trumps. As a batting and bowling team we have a lot to do. Shreyas Iyer roared back to form with a stroke-filled 64 while the spinners picked up all the 10 wickets as India recorded yet another one-sided 88-run victory over West Indies to wrap up the five-match T20I series by a comprehensive 4-1 margin at Lauderhill, Florida.It was Iyer&#39;s half-century and useful contributions from Deepak Hooda (38 off 25 balls) and stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya&#39;s (28 off 16 balls) cameo that propelled India to 188 for 7 in 20 overs after being put in to bat.Then, Pandya handed the new ball to Axar Patel (3-1-15-3), who quickly removed makeshift opener Jason Holder (0), Shamarah Brooks (13) and Devon Thomas (10) with three arm balls on a track where balls stopped and gripped off the surface.West Indies were all out for 100 runs inside 16 overs as one of the most lopsided T20I bilateral series came to an end even though India won&#39;t be complaining having ticked most of the boxes.Once Kuldeep Yadav (4-1-12-3) caught rival skipper Nicholas Pooran (3) plumb in-front with a flighted delivery, there was no way that the West Indies could have made a comeback on a track which wasn&#39;t easy for batting.It started getting slower with the passage of time and despite Shimron Hetmyer&#39;s (56 off 35 balls) resistance, it was never going to be enough as the Caribbean batting line-up never had the wherewithal to cope with the quality of Indian spinners.Ravi Bishnoi (2.4-0-16-4) also got into the act and snapped his share of wickets as India&#39;s spin troika varied their lengths and pace with ease to keep the Windies batters on tenterhooks.But the day belonged to Iyer, who was able to release the pressure piling upon him with a blistering knock as the Indian team, even without its regular top-order, scored above par on a slowish track.Stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya played a nice little cameo to beef up the score in the end with 18 runs coming off the penultimate over bowled by Jason Holder. Due to lightning in the vicinity of the stadium, the match was halted for 15 minutes after 14.3 overs, when India were nicely placed at 135 for three.Having failed in the first three games and dropped from the fourth, not only did Iyer perform admirably in an unfamiliar position as an opener but also won his little &#39;battle within battle&#39; with Deepak Hooda, who was equally impressive during his stay at the crease.The Iyer-Hooda pair added 76 runs in only 7.1 overs and their partnership was nothing short of breathtaking with as many as four sixes (two each) hit between them apart from a flurry of fours.The innings played a day before the Asia Cup team selection will certainly leave Iyer in a far better mind space although he is certainly going to miss out in the first XI berth when all the &#39;big boys&#39; turn up. The bulk of his eight fours and two sixes were all sweetly timed strokes.Ishan Kishan (11 off 13 balls) failed to make it count and opportunities will be rare in the next two months for the pint-sized Jharkhand dasher. Iyer teed off against Dominic Drakes with a couple of boundaries while Hooda played a cute little ramp shot over the keeper off Keemo Paul.It was the eighth over bowled by Odean Smith where Iyer launched into the bowler with back-to-back sixes -- a slash over point and a lofted drive over extra cover. Off the first delivery by leg-spinner Hayden Walsh&#39;s very next over, Hooda hit a picturesque inside-out six over extra cover.However, the shot of the Indian innings was Hooda&#39;s lofted drive over Obed McCoy&#39;s head for a maximum. Despite the wicket playing tricks, Rohit Sharma&rsquo;s India brought every formula from the book and beyond to ensure that they set up a gargantuan target of 192 runs against Windies, a total that was unheard of when it came to chase at Florida.&nbsp;Rohit Sharma was extremely pleased with the performance and credited the batters for holding their forte despite the uneven nature of the wicket.&nbsp;&ldquo;I think it was pleasing how we played the game,&rdquo; Rohit said in the post-match presentation. &ldquo;The conditions were not easy but we got a good score. A lot of thought went in on how we batted and it was pleasing to see. The pitch was quite slow which our bowlers used to their advantage.&nbsp;&ldquo;I thought 190 was a good score, but with the kind of batting that WI have, no score is good. We played good cricket to get the win today. The batters were really smart and the bowlers bowled in pairs to get wickets. It put the brakes on their scoring.&rdquo;Avesh Khan had a torrid outing earlier this series but redeemed himself in some fashion on Saturday by getting the better of Brandon King and Devon Thomas in his first two overs. Knowing how dangerous the duo could be, it was a move that played the biggest role in India securing the series with a game to spare. The Indian skipper believes that it is important to give chances to people who can win matches.&nbsp;&ldquo;We do understand Avesh&#39;s talent. Anyone can have one or two bad games, but we want to keep his skills in mind. We want to give boys enough game time in the middle. India are set to play another dead rubber to cap off a successful white-ball tour of England and West Indies. Since the last T20 World Cup, India have fared in five T20I series of more than two matches. In four of them, they won the series before the final fixture.As impressive as this record is, the domination means little to the visitors when compared to the larger vision of reclaiming the T20 World Cup in the upcoming edition of the tournament. Having featured in 18 T20Is this year, India have tried 27 players, the most by any Test playing nation. And it is safe to assume that they have figured out their best candidate for most spots.However, this dead rubber is probably their last chance for experimentation. There is a good prospect that the World Cup preparations will now move into a phase where they would like their anticipated combination for the tournament to play together. There is no better opportunity to implement that than a multi-team tournament like the 2022 Asia Cup which is their next T20I assignment.West Indies, the hosts, are at the other end of the spectrum. Despite most players available, they are far from their best combination. They managed to pull one game back in the second T20I but have been flat since. <a href="https://www.cricket.com/match-score/212539/scorecard/wi-vs-ind-4th-t20i-india-tour-of-west-indies-2022" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The drubbing in the fourth match</a> not only conceded the series, but also raised further question marks on their expertise on both fronts.&nbsp;The difference in bowling numbersTwice in three matches while batting first, the Indian side has posted above par totals on slow tracks. 190 in the first T20I in Tarouba and 191 in the previous game in Florida have engineered victories by massive margins of 68 and 59 runs respectively.&nbsp;The point of difference has been the fast bowlers. None of the Caribbean pacers - Obed McCoy, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Odean Smith and Dominic Drakes - have managed an economy of under 8 runs per over. On the contrary note, India have used only three pacers in the series. Both Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have ceased the flow of runs with an economy of 6.3 and 6.7 runs per over respectively. Only Avesh Khan has gone at 10.2 runs per over.&nbsp;<img src="https://images-cricketcom.imgix.net/1659834005952-articleimg" style="width: 600px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib">A phase-wise breakdown reveals a difference of over 1 run per over in nearly every phase. It has enabled India to post big totals which have eventually turned out to be a mountainous task for the Windies&rsquo; batters.&nbsp;Windies&rsquo; misfiring middle-orderThe engine room of West Indies&rsquo; batting line-up - the middle-order - has broken down in this series. Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell have scored only 203 runs between them, averaging 16.9 runs per dismissal. A part of it has to do with chasing big targets consistently as well West Indies&rsquo; long-lasting struggle against slower bowlers.&nbsp;Amidst this lot, Pooran&rsquo;s scores of 24, 22, 18 and 14 have been the most disappointing. He has appeared to be the most secured batter in the whole line-up but has found ways to get out. In the fourth T20I, he suffered a tragic run-out in a mix-up with Kyle Mayers after scoring 22 off Axar Patel&rsquo;s over.&nbsp;Given his form, Pooran seems to be the only batter who can respond to the huge totals the Indian team have posted. In a will to salvage their pride, West Indies will hope Pooran to finally come good in the series.&nbsp;Arshdeep killing two birds with one stoneAfter a long wait, it has been a superb start to Arshdeep Singh&rsquo;s international career. At 6.3, he has the best economy rate among specialist bowlers in the series. At the same time, his tally of seven wickets in four matches is the highest for an Indian bowler.The Caribbean conditions have left Bhuvneshwar Kumar bereft of swing with the new ball while Avesh Khan has missed out on bounce. In such circumstances, Arshdeep&rsquo;s ability to pick wickets and control the flow of runs have covered up for the shortcomings of both his seam bowling partners.&nbsp;There is another aspect that highlights the left-arm seamer&rsquo;s contribution to the series win. The right-arm pacers - Bhuvi, Avesh and Hardik Pandya - have struggled to contain the West Indies&rsquo; &nbsp;left-handers. They have conceded at 8.1 to the southpaws as compared to 7.1 against the right-handers.&nbsp;<img src="https://images-cricketcom.imgix.net/1659834056929-articleimg" style="width: 600px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib">However, Arshdeep has bowled at an economy of only 5.8 to the lefties as compared to 6.8 against the right-handers.&nbsp;Probable XIsWest IndiesFollowing consecutive disappointing results with ordinary returns in both departments, West Indies may make some changes in their combination. Will we see both or at least one of them make it to the XI this time?
