However, Conway is not sure but Smith is claiming it. The umpires sends it upstairs to check and the soft signal is Not Out. The first replay shows that the fingers are under the ball, but it is still not clear. The front on angle shows that the ball bounced up off his fingers as Smith complete the catch on the tumble. The umpire is satisfied and he says that it is Out and the on field decision is changed. This does not happen often when the soft signal is reversed, but this time it looks like the right call. Devon Conway is not happy with the decision, but he has to make the long walk back. New Zealand lose their first wicket.

They appeal for the stumping, and the umpire sends it upstairs. The replay shows that Latham put in a desperate dive but is still well short of his crease when the stumps were broken.
