Presentation Time...
Earlier in the innings, after electing to bat first Perth Scorchers got into trouble early losing a few too many wickets, but were still able to put on a fighting total on board thanks to the half-century of Aaron Hardie and the support provided by Ashton Agar. Sydney Sixers would have been confident of chasing this down, but their batting let them down once again and the bowlers of Perth Scorchers helped them register a convincing win.
Perth Scorchers will be really happy with their overall bowling effort and will be taking this confidence in the next game. They came out to defend with positive intent and got their rewards early. Sydney Sixers could not handle the quality bowling of Jason Behrendorff and Jhye Richardson at the start of the innings. They ran havoc and were able to get through to the lower middle order before the halfway mark. However, they struggled a bit in the middle overs allowing their opponents to get back in the game. It was Jhye Richardson who got the crucial breakthrough of Hayden Kerr in the second over of Power Surge which shifted the momentum back towards them and they grabbed it with both hands. Jhye Richardson was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets and every other bowler got into the wickets column to confirm the win for them.
Sydney Sixers did not have a great start to the chase as they lost both their openers quite early. They could not get going in the Powerplay and soon lost skipper, Moises Henriques for a golden duck and Dan Christian followed him soon after. They were struggling at 31 for 5, but Jordan Silk and Hayden Kerr started the repair job after that and added 75 runs together. They took the Power Surge and used it well in the first over, but Kerr got dismissed in the second over and with the run rate creeping up, Silk could not last long as well. After that it all fell apart for the Sixers as they were bowled out on the last ball ultimately falling short by 38 runs.
Perth Scorchers start their Big Bash League 2022-23 campaign with a convincing win! They have put on a brilliant all-round performance and have handed a second consecutive defeat to the Sydney Sixers.

Andrew Tye to Naveen-ul-Haq ,OUT! CAUGHT! Andrew Tye ends proceedings with a wicket and seals the win for Perth Scorchers in fine fashion. This is pitched up on middle and leg, Naveen-ul-Haq clears the front leg and lofts it straight down the throat of the man at long on. Aaron Hardie over there takes a straightforward catch and Sydney Sixers have been bundled out for 117 on the last ball of the innings. Perth Scorchers win by 38 runs.

Jhye Richardson to Jackson Bird ,OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! Jhye Richardson finishes off his spell in style and ends with a four-fer as well. This is another pacy delivery, fuller in length and angled into middle stump. Jackson Bird clears the front leg and has a big swipe across the line but yet again the pace is just too much to handle. The ball knocks the middle stump over and Perth Scorchers are just one wicket away from victory.
