Sam Harper wins the Man of the Match award for his match-winning knock. He says that it was nice to get a few runs and a huge win for the boys. Mentions it is a worst feeling whenever there is a mix-up in the middle. Informs that he just kept trusting him and it turned out well. Adds that Guptill is amazing and is an important assest in the side. His brisk start set the tone for the chase.
Earlier in the innings, Hobart Hurricanes were off to a flier off a start with their top-orders getting a solid start but none of them were able to turn with the heat with the bat in hand. Their middle-order failed to build solid stands in the middle. Although, Joel Paris' cameo helped them cross the 160-run mark which gave the bowlers something to defend at but it proved to be too less.
Hobart Hurricanes were pegged back initially with their new ball bowlers being taken to the cleaners. Although, they did crawl back into this game by going Bang, Bang! Later, the bowlers were able to put a lid over the run-rate briefly. But they could not capitalize on the pressure as there were a few dropped chances. Once, Sam Harper took the aggressive route the bowlers found it very difficult to pull things back in their favour. The three seamer, Riley Meredith, Nathan Ellis and Faheem Ashraf took a wicket each but were on the expensive side,
Melbourne Renegades were off to a flying start. It was Martin Guptill who provided them with a bright start as he took on the bowlers from the get go. Marcus Harris played a second fiddle, while Martin Guptill kept on finding boundaries at will. He scored 36 runs off 19 balls which included 5 fours and a biggie. Although, they lost their opening pair on consecutive deliveries which put them on the back foot. Sam Harper was the culprit for the second wicket, as it created a huge mix-up. But he did not let it affect his innings. Sam Harper took his time to get his eye-in but once he did there was no stopping him. Sam Harper smacked 89 runs to single-handedly take his side near the victory line. He could've gotten his ton here but slipped out as he tried to go for the big shot. Later, Jonathan Wells and Will Sutherland completed the formalities.
WOW! An incredible win for Melbourne Renegades. Their second win on the trot. Hobart Hurricanes would be very disappointed with the amount of catches dropped in the field. If they were taken, things could've been well different here.
