Our coverage for that game will start well in advance. So do join us for the same. Till then, it's goodbye and cheers!
Nicholas Pooran, the skipper of Deccan Gladiators is the player of the match. He says that the guys knew how to play and it really feels nice to win. Adds that he doesn't feel any pressure and he enjoys playing T10 cricket. Ends by saying that they also put up an excellent bowling display and executed their plans well.
Time for the Presentation.
Tabraiz Shamsi is in for a quick chat. He says that being champions gives them confidence and they would want to win each and every game. Adds that he was happy to do his bit and their batters did a great job. Ends by saying that he is happy to make his contribution to the team.
Team Abu Dhabi had their moments in the game but could not covert them into something substantial. Peter Hatzoglou was brilliant with the ball and picked two wickets to bring them back in the game when they were under the pump in the first half. They, however, needed their big guns Chris Lynn and Alex Hales to fire with the bat but that did not happen and despite some decent knocks by Vince and Allen they have fallen way short of the target. They need to pull their socks and come up with better performance in the next game.
Deccan Gladiators have some genuine wicket-takes in their bowling line-up and they were always going to be tough to get away especially when they had a good score on the board. The score of 134 that they got with the bat was largely because of their skipper Nicholas Pooran who smashed 77 off 33 balls. In the bowling department, Tabraiz Shamsi picked up an important wicket of Chris Lynn while Zahoor Khan bowled pretty well to take two wickets which included a big wicket of Hales. Little and Tom Helm also did their job to perfection and overall it was a clinical bowling display from Deccan Gladiators.
The defending champions, Deccan Gladiators have started their tournament with a bang! They have delivered a comprehensive performance against a very strong team Team Abu Dhabi and would be proud of their effort. It is a short format and it is about winning those key moments and one or two players standing up and that is what exactly happened in this game as Deccan Gladiators skipper Nicholas Pooran stood up with the bat when others around him failed to get going.
