Right then, that is it from this game! Deccan Gladiators have made it two wins out of two thanks to another superb inning from their skipper Nicholas Pooran. However, it is a triple header and the action continues as Team Abu Dhabi take on Delhi Bulls in the second game. It will start at 19.45 pm IST (2.15 pm GMT). So switch tabs and enjoy the coverage of that game. Cheers!
Nicholas Pooran, the Deccan Gladiators skipper is the Player of the Match for his knock of 80(32). He says that he is happy to contribute and winning always feels good. Adds that performing is just the icing on the cake if they win. Shares that he wasn't able to time the ball on this tacky wicket but he will take this knock any day. Ends by saying that it is good to have players like Jason Roy and Andre Russell and the experience they bring in.
Time for the Presentation.
Odean Smith is in for a chat now. He says that any wicket in this format is valuable. Adds that they stuck to their plans and it got them the result. Mentions that it is nice to have players like Andre Russell in your team as they can win you games on their own. Also says that he loves it here as he gets to express himself with both bat and bowl. Ends by saying that he is happy with the win.
Earlier, Deccan Gladiators were off to a flying start despite losing Jason Roy early. The pair of Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Nicholas Pooran put on a 109-run stand and powered the Deccan Gladiators to a challenging total.
Northern Warriors were off to a similar start as their counterparts in their pursuit of 139. Adam Lyth and Kennar Lewis redeemed themselves with a 59-run opening stand. However, once the openers were dismissed, Northern Warriors lost their way in the chase. They were unable to string any partnerships as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. As a result, they fell short and came second in this fixture.
While defending a huge total, Deccan Gladiators began poorly with the ball and leaked a lot of runs in the first five overs. They clawed their way back into the game with some quick wickets and as a result, they managed to successfully defend the total. Tom Helm was the star with the ball for Deccan Gladiators with his spell of 2-12.
Deccan Gladiators emerge victorious in this encounter against Northern Warriors by a convincing 24-run margin. This has been an all-round effort by the reigning champions whereas the Northern Warriors have a lot to ponder on ahead of their next game.
