Right then, that's it from the coverage of this game. The action though still continues in the Women's T20 League as UP will be locking horns against Gujarat. The first ball will be at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). So do switch tabs and follow the action. Cheers!
Tara Norris (4-0-29-5) wins the Player of the Match award for her exceptional spell with the ball.
Earlier in the day, Delhi posted a massive 223 in their 20 overs after being put into bat first. Meg Lanning (72 off 43) and Shafali Verma (84 off 45) added 162 for the first wicket. Both got dismissed in quick succession. Marizanne Kapp and Jemimah Rodrigues finished the inning with a quickfire 60-run stand. Bangalore had a forgettable day in the field as most of their bowlers were taken to the cleaners. Heather Knight took both wickets but was a bit on the expensive side. In the end, it was just too much to chase down for Bangalore.
Delhi were hugely benefitted by playing five overseas players, a rare occurrence, as they had Tara Norris from the USA as the Associate player in the ranks. She had a ball, picked a 5-fer and broke the batting order of Bangalore. Alice Capsey chipped in with 2 while Shikha Pandey took a wicket to complete a commanding result for Delhi.
Chasing 224 was always going to be a tough ask for Bangalore. Their skipper, Smriti Mandhana though provided them with a solid start. Devine joined her soon and got a few away as well. Both batters departed after their starts with Capsey sending them back into the hut. Ellyse Perry kept the scoring rate going well but did not find much support from the other end. The middle order crumbled and Bangalore were reduced to 96 for 7 in the 14th over. Heather Knight and Megan Schutt added 54 runs for the 8th wicket but it was too little too late.
Whoa! This has been an outstanding start for Delhi in the inaugural edition of the Women's T20 League. They have outclassed Bangalore here to seal the game by 60 runs.
