Yet again, it is Abhishek Sharma who is making the headlines for the right reasons, as the left-hander has equalled Virat Kohli’s all-time T20I record, on November 8 (Saturday). The left-hander brought up his 1,000th T20I run in his 29th appearance in the format, the joint-lowest alongside Kohli.
Abhishek brought up his milestone in the fifth T20I against Australia at The Gabba early on in his innings. When it comes to deliveries, the left-hander is the fastest to the milestone, as Abhishek got to the landmark in just 528 deliveries, 41 quicker than Tim David’s tally of 569.
During his knock, the youngster also surpassed Suryakumar Yadav’s tally of 733 runs (2023), as the third-most runs for an Indian batter in a calendar year, only behind Kohli’s 781 (2022) and Surya’s 1164 runs (2022).
