After a shambolic display in the second T20I, India had a point to prove in the third encounter in Hobart, on November 2 (Sunday). It was exactly that as the Men in Blue chased down 187 with relative ease, with nine balls remaining and by five wickets to level the series 1-1.
Batting first, Australia didn’t get off to the best start possible, losing Travis Head and Josh Inglis pretty early on in the innings. With Australia reeling at 14/2, Tim David smashed a stroke-filled 74 off 38 balls, with eight fours and two sixes. Marcus Stoinis also chipped in with an attractive 39-ball 64 as Australia got to 186.
But on a true batting surface in Hobart, it seemed like a futile score, as the Indian batters showed their aggressive intent from the word go. Abhishek Sharma was the early aggressor with a 16-ball 25 before Suryakumar Yadav built on it with an 11-ball 24.
Washington Sundar top-scored for India, smashing a 23-ball 49, with three fours and four sixes as India chased down 187 with nine balls remaining, their third-highest run-chase in Australia.
