“He’ll hit you for a six, he’ll babysit your kids, we’ve got Rishabh Pant…”
Indian fans’ chant for Rishabh Pant isn’t for no reason, as the left-hander continued to upscale his game and break an elite all-time six-hitting record, on July 5 (Saturday).
Pant broke the record during the second innings of the second Test in Birmingham, when he outrageously slog swept Josh Tongue. It took him past Ben Stokes’ tally of 21 sixes in South Africa, which was the most for a batter in a particular country.
With that, Pant now has 23 sixes in England - the most for any visiting batter in a country. It was also his 51st six away from home, out of the 85 sixes that he’s scored in the red-ball format. The highest-ever tally for any wicketkeeper batter is 100 sixes, with Pant just 15 big hits away from that landmark.
