25 Wickets In 7 Innings: Gus Atkinson Extends OUTRAGEOUS Record In London

Atkinson now has taken 60 wickets in Tests, and has an impressive average of 21.00

Gus Atkinson continues to be one of the greatest seamers in history in the big city of London as he continued his ridiculous record there today, bagging his fourth 5-wicket haul in the city in just 7 innings.

Returning to the Test side after an injury layoff, Atkinson was flawless with the ball across the first two days of the fifth Test as he finished with 5/33, his fourth 5-fer in Tests.

Atkinson now has 25 wickets in 7 innings across Lord’s and The Oval, maintaining an absurd average of 13.2 across these venues. All his five-fers in Tests have come at these two venues, and he’s taken 42% of his Test wickets across Lord’s and The Oval as well.

The 27-year-old drew first blood on day one with the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal, and he also removed Dhruv Jurel later in the day to bag his second. He took the wickets of Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj and finally Prasidh Krishna to bag a five-fer.

Yet Atkinson’s most important contribution in the game came in the form of a run-out, with him showing incredible awareness to run the Indian skipper out of nowhere.

Atkinson now has taken 60 wickets in Tests, and has an impressive average of 21.00.
