Australian players are always a prized scalp at an Indian Premier League (IPL) auction and come the 2026 IPL auction, they would once again be highly sough after.
This time around, their importance is sure to increase, if anything, given that the 2026 auction will be a mini one and not a lot of major T20 superstars will be available at the auction. We look at three big Australian stars likely to be up for grabs at the IPL 2026 auction.
One of the biggest talking points of the IPL 2026 mini-auction would be Cameron Green. Not only does he pack a solid punch being a three-dimensional player, but the fact that he is currently in great form, playing the most explosive cricket of his life, is only going to boost his confidence and skyrocket his value.
In a way, the upcoming white-ball series against India could decide how far on the money meter the teams will go to get Green.
The big Aussies all-rounder has so far played 63 T20s, scoring 1334 runs at an average of 33 and a strike rate of 151. He is also more than a handy bowler with 28 scalps to his name in the shortest format.
Glenn Maxwell was not in great form before injury pushed him out of IPL 2025. Now, heading into 2026, his franchise, Punjab Kings (PBKS), might be willing to let him go and retain his replacement Mitchell Owen instead.
In that scenario, Maxwell, who has invaluable experience of 486 T20s under his belt, and can be a game-changer with both bat and ball, will be a commodity worth noticing at the IPL 2026 mini auction. He was the Player of the Match in the last T20I he played for Australia, which was the series decider against South Africa in Cairns.
Adam Zampa has not really been utilised at Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), a franchise which already has more than four great overseas players. It would only be better for Zampa himself, and also the franchise, to let him go.
On the basis of his talent, the Aussie leg-spinner could easily make the playing 12 (impact player included) in any IPL team.
