3 World Records Broken So Far In ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Just six games into the competition, we’ve seen plenty of world records set and SHATTERED

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is underway, and six games into the tournament, we’ve had some truly exhilarating action. Tons have been scored in absolute numbers, and while there haven’t been too many close contests, we’ve seen some really high-quality cricket from all teams involved.

Remarkably, just six games into the competition, we’ve seen plenty of world records set and SHATTERED.

Let us delve into the all-time records that have been broken thus far in this Champions Trophy!

Ben Duckett 165 - Highest individual score in Champions Trophy history

Heading into this Champions Trophy, Nathan Astle’s 145* against the USA in 2004 had, for 21 years, remained the highest individual score in the competition’s history.

But in the very fourth game of the tournament, Ben Duckett SHATTERED the record by posting 165 against Australia. It was also the highest individual score posted by an Englishman in any white-ball ICC event.

145 - Andy Flower vs India, Colombo, 2002

141* - Sourav Ganguly vs South Africa, Nairobi, 2000

141 - Sachin Tendulkar vs Australia, Dhaka, 1998

As it turned out, though, Duckett’s record effort wasn’t enough to take England over the line. Australia had the last laugh thanks to Josh Inglis’ unbeaten 120.

Australia 356/5 - Highest successful chase in ICC Tournament History

Josh Inglis celebrates his match-winning ton against England in Lahore

Australia are without half their ‘first team’ in this Champions Trophy, yet they still managed to create an all-time record. That’s right, against England, after conceding 351/8 in Lahore, the Kangaroos pulled off a spectacular chase thanks to Josh Inglis (120*) and Alex Carey (69).

The chase was the most successful chase in Champions Trophy history and the most successful chase in white-ball ICC events. It was also the second-most successful chase ever for Australia in ODIs.

Meanwhile, Inglis' ton was the first by an Australian wicketkeeper in Champions Trophy history.

Rachin Ravindra - First cricketer to score a ton in both World Cup and Champions Trophy debut

Rachin Ravindra celebrates his record-breaking ton against Bangladesh

Against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, Rachin Ravindra returned to action after a 16-day injury layoff, and, on top of that, also batted out of position at No.4. Yet that didn’t stop him from shattering records.

Ravindra, on the back of a stunning ton against Bangladesh, became the first batter IN HISTORY to score a century on both World Cup and Champions Trophy debut. That’s right, the Bangladesh clash was Ravindra’s Champions Trophy debut.

Meanwhile, 18 months ago, he smashed 123* against England in Ahmedabad in his World Cup debut.

Additionally, Ravindra now has the most hundreds for any New Zealander (4) in ICC events.
