Ahead of U-19 World Cup, Rahul Dravid's Son Anvay Picked For Challenger Trophy

Anvay Dravid has been included in Team C for BCCI’s U-19 Challenger Trophy

It is in the blood, as Rahul Dravid’s younger son, Anvay Dravid, has been included in Team C’s squad for the upcoming U-19 Challenger Trophy. The tournament, which is scheduled to start on November 5, will see four Challenger Teams, and it will act as a build-up to the Under-19 World Cup next year.

The 16-year-old led Karnataka in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, where the state reached the quarter-finals. Across six games, Anvay smashed 220 runs, including a high score of 82 and another half-century, but couldn’t contribute as Karnataka crashed out in the quarter-finals.

His brother, Samit Dravid, too, was part of India’s U-19 squad for the series against Australia. However, the all-rounder missed the series with an injury. Unlike his brother, though, Anvay is a wicketkeeper batter, with the 16-year-old being the second wicketkeeper in the C setup alongside Saurashtra’s youngster Yuvraj Gohil.

The impressive Vihaan Malhotra will lead the A side, as Vedant Trivedi will lead the B outfit. Aaron George, who led Hyderabad to an impressive run to the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, will lead the C side, where Anvay is also part of. Chandrahas Dash will lead the D team, with the tournament running till November 11 (Tuesday).
