It is no secret that Virat Kohli is nearing the end of his career. He could have another couple of years left in him and he would want to make every moment count. That certainly has not happened in the ODI series against Australia so far, where he has been dismissed for a duck in both matches.
Having retired from Tests and T20Is, this was Kohli's first series in seven months. However, former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar does not think there is much to worry about when it comes to Kohli's form and jokingly says all he has to do now is add one in front of those two zeroes.
"You always say you need the rub of the green. He has not had it yet. That doesn't mean he can't. There are two zeroes, all he has to do is add the one on the side. It will take a lot of grit and determination from him, but those are stories," he said during an interaction with Star Sports.
"A Virat Kohli doesn't become a Virat Kohli without overcoming failures. He has done that in the past. He has struggled in England. He has gone back and conquered it. He has got one more game to conquer his demons, but if there is someone whom I would rely and bet on, that would be Virat," he added.
India and Australia will clash in the third ODI on October 25 (Saturday), in Sydney, where the veteran batter has just 146 in seven innings at an underwhelming average of 24.33. Australia have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series following wins in Perth and Adelaide.
