India registered their highest-ever total in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, but it still wasn’t enough as Alyssa Healy produced one of the greatest knocks in tournament history to take Australia to a three-wicket win in Visakhapatnam on October 12 (Sunday).
Chasing 331, the Australian captain blasted 142 off just 107 deliveries, smashing 21 fours and three sixes. It was her sixth ODI century - the joint-most by a wicketkeeper-batter alongside England’s Sarah Taylor - and the second-highest individual score against India in Women’s ODIs. She also recorded the third-best strike rate for a centurion against India.
By the time Shree Charani dismissed her in the 39th over, Australia were already in cruise control.

Earlier, Pratika Rawal (75 off 96) and Smriti Mandhana (80 off 66) gave India a blistering start, putting on 155 in 24.3 overs. Harleen Deol (38 off 32), Harmanpreet Kaur (22 off 17), Jemimah Rodrigues (33 off 21) and Richa Ghosh (32 off 22) kept the momentum going, but none stayed till the end.
At 294/4 in the 42nd over, India were set for 360-plus, but a dramatic collapse saw them lose six wickets for 36 runs. They were bowled out for 330 with seven balls unused - a shortfall of at least 25-30 runs that ultimately proved costly. Annabel Sutherland was the pick of the bowlers with 5/40.
For Australia, Phoebe Litchfield (40 off 39) and Ashleigh Gardner (45 off 46) made crucial contributions before Ellyse Perry (47*) finished the job with an over remaining - sealing the highest-ever successful run chase in Women’s ODI history.
