England have announced an unchanged XI for the fifth and final Ashes Test at Kennington Oval, starting on Thursday (July 27). There were question marks over James Anderson’s spot but the 40-year-old has retained his spot ahead of the likes of Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue.
Anderson is averaging 76.75 in the ongoing Ashes series, having managed only four wickets across three Tests. Chris Woakes, Mark Wood and Stuart Broad are the other seamers, with the latter becoming the only England bowlers to feature in all five games.
The batting-order remains the same, with Moeen Ali once again taking the No. 3 spot. England’s batters had a terrific time in Manchester, where they amassed 592 runs in just 107.4 overs.
The hosts looked set to win the fourth Test but the rain played spoilsport as only one session was played in the last two days. As of now, Australia are leading the five-match series 2-1 and will take back the urn home no matter what happens in the final Test.
