Annerie Dercksen was the only fresh name in the central contracts announced by Cricket South Africa for the Proteas Women’s team on March 17 (Monday). Two players, Lara Goodall and Delmi Tucker, were omitted from the 15-woman list for the 2025-26 season.
Dercksen, 23, has represented the national team in two Tests, four ODIs and 22 Women’s T20Is.
It is going to be an exciting season for the South African women’s team as they will participate in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 in India. Skipper Laura Wolvaardt and coach Mandla Mashimbyi will have their hands full in trying to achieve what they failed to in their last two World Cups, the 2023 and 2024 Women's T20 World Cups. Their preparations will focus on the ultimate prize: the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, which will take place in India later this year.
CSA Executive for National Teams and High Performance, Enoch Nkwe, commenting on the contracts' announcement, said, “It’s also a momentous occasion for Annerie Dercksen, whose performances have been impressive as she cemented her spot in the team, earning a well-deserved first national contract.”
“As we prepare for a pivotal year with the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India, this squad offers the right balance of experience and youthful energy. We believe this group is well-equipped to compete at the highest level and continue making the country proud,” he added.
