Arshdeep Singh Set To Debut At Lord's? 3 Indians Who Can Make Their Test Debut Soon
Which one of these will make their Test debut first?
There is no shortage of talent in the Indian cricketing circuit, as they have produced top-class players for many years. Even in the ongoing Test series against England, we saw Sai Sudharsan make his Test debut. However, he may not be the last one.
Here's a look at three players who could make their Test debut for England in the near future.
Arshdeep Singh
Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who is part of the Indian squad for the England Tests, could make his debut at Lord's. Left-armers enjoy an advantage at Lord's, given that the slope of the ground makes it difficult for the right-handed batters to judge the trajectory of the ball.
The 26-year-old, who has been selected to add a bit of variety to the squad, has 66 wickets at 30.37 in first-class cricket, including 13 wickets in England.
Abhimanyu Easwaran
It is hard to digest that Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has scored heavily in the domestic circuit and is a regular for India A, has not played Tests yet. He had a chance when Rohit Sharma retired, but India went in with the opening combination of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul.
For someone who has scored nearly 7,000 runs as an opener, you'd say an opportunity is only around the corner.
Tanush Kotian
When Ravichandran Ashwin retired midway through the Australia series, Tanush Kotian was called in as cover. It is clear that the Mumbai all-rounder is on Team India's radar and could be in the XI sooner rather than later. Kotian averages over 55 in first-class cricket at eight, and with the ball, he has 113 wickets at 26 in 38 matches.
He has performed well for India A as well, picking up 12 wickets at 29 in five games, and has struck two fifties in nine innings down the order, averaging 38.57. With Indian conditions favouring spinners, expect a debut sooner or later in the home season for the 26-year-old.
