Ashwin, Moeen Ali And...: 3 Players Who Can Retire From IPL After 2025 Season

All these players are bonafide legends of the league

The Indian Premier League (IPL)’s 2025 edition has spelt doom for the careers of many senior players. Here are three players who will most likely retire from the IPL after the end of this season.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Bought for a hefty sum of INR 9.75 Cr by the Chennai Super Kings, local boy Ravichandran Ashwin has failed miserably in IPL 2025. In his seven appearances in the league, Ashwin has managed to pick up only five wickets. He has also been left out of the playing 11 on two occasions. Thus, to imagine that he will play another season will be too much.

Ashwin has taken 185 wickets and scored 812 runs in his 219-match-old IPL career.

Moeen Ali

Moeen Ali was signed at INR 2 Cr, his base price at the IPL 2025 mega auction by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, he hasn’t really been in the scheme of things of the Knight Riders. The Englishman has only played four matches out of nine. At 38 years of age, he is not going to get younger and, therefore, it might be the last season of Moeen Ali in the IPL.

So far, the southpaw batter and off-spin bowler has played 71 IPL matches, scoring 1167 runs and taking 38 wickets.

Faf du Plessis

At 41 years of age, Faf du Plessis might be playing his last season of the IPL as he himself announced after the IPL 2025 Mega Auction that he will not go to any other team from here onwards.

n IPL 2025, du Plessis got injured and missed five matches on the trot. Even in the matches that he played, the Proteas batter was unable to make an impact, as he scored only one fifty in those four innings.
