Former Australia batter David Boon will join Cricket Australia (CA) after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, from March 28 onwards and relinquish his current position as an ICC match referee to take up the new role. The 64-year-old is the chairperson of the Cricket Tasmania board and will represent the body in CA, replacing Paul Green.
“I’m absolutely delighted that David will bring his vast experience as a player and cricket administrator to the CA board," CA chair Mike Baird was quoted as saying by Cricket.com.au.
“David has continued to gain first-hand insights into international cricket in his role as an ICC match referee, and this will be invaluable as we negotiate the game’s rapidly changing landscape," he added.
Boon scored 13,386 runs across formats during his playing career and was also part of the 1987 World Cup-winning team. He has been a match referee since 2011, before which he was a selector.
