Australia Women To Tour India Right Before ODI World Cup
The series will serve as vital preparation right before the home ODI World Cup starting September 26
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced an Australia women’s tour of India, which will include three ODIs to be played on September 14, 17 and 20. These three games will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
They would serve as crucial preparation for the Indian women, who would be playing a home ODI World Cup beginning September 26, with the final being on November 2.
Earlier this month, the Indian women won the ODI tri-nation series held in Sri Lanka between the hosts, India and South Africa women. After this, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will be travelling to England, where they will play five T20Is and three ODIs against the home side beginning June 28.
The England tour will continue till July 22, after which there will be hardly two months left for the ODI World Cup to begin. The squad for the England tour was earlier announced on May 15, with Shafali Verma still missing from the ODI side, but making a comeback in the T20I side.
Notably, the last time Indian women played the Australian women in an ODI series was in Australia in December last year, where India lost the ODI series 0-3. A strong performance in the upcoming tour would give them a lot of confidence going into the World Cup.
