Australian Players Reject Massive AUD 100M IPL Offer to Ditch International Career: Reports
There are also talks going on to find a way to privatise BBL
Australia stars Pat Cummins and Travis Head, who play for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), have reportedly rejected AUD 100 million (INR 58.76 crore) annual offer from an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise to quit international cricket and be available to the team as and when required.
With many IPL franchises, including SRH, having teams in other countries, the duo could have had the opportunity to play for those teams as well. According to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald, both players' management have declined to comment on these developments.
Cummins earns INR 18 crore through the IPL, while his teammate Travis Head earns INR 14 crore per season. Top Australian stars earn nearly INR 9 crore through their annual contracts, with Cummins earning double of it as he is the captain of the side.
The report also mentioned ongoing talks to have the Big Bash League (BBL) privatised, as it would increase the players' salaries and avoid some of their big stars jumping ship.
