Bad news for the English side ahead of Ashes 2025, as Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is set to resume bowling duties in the upcoming Sheffield Shield season. The all-rounder who now finds himself in a more prominent position will have a huge task during Ashes 2025/26 Down Under.
"In the past, it's worked really well when I've focused on Shield cricket," Green said, reported cricket.com.au.
"That potentially might be the way to go, especially with [me] working my way back to bowling, to potentially get a few more overs over a few more days.
"I think that might be the way we go."
The all-rounder was seen in the nets practising his bowling in the ongoing series against South Africa. According to Cricket.com.au, the all-rounder bowled close to 36 deliveries as he edges closer to full fitness as an all-rounder.
"[I'm] going really well. I'm not quite certain on what match [his return to bowling] is, but I'm feeling really good and I'm in a really good spot. It's just really exciting. It's been a long road back."
Green was promoted to No.3 in Australia’s loss against South Africa in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final. While he didn’t have the best of starts, the all-rounder was one of the best batters in the West Indies, scoring 52, 46 and 42. Green opened up on the tough wickets in West Indies.
"I don't think we'll be playing on many wickets quite like that [this summer], so I don't think there's too many takeaways," Green said.
"It was such a tough wicket, especially for the batters, to try and get out of the series unscathed was a good effort."
