Banned Bangladesh All-Rounder Returns To Competitive Cricket

Hossain was banned in September 2023 by the ICC, but the ban had a six-month suspension

After facing a two-year ban for breaching the ICC's Anti-Corruption Code, Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain finally returned to competitive cricket when he appeared for the Rupganj Tigers against Gazi Group Cricketers in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) 2024-25 on April 7 (Monday). 

Hossain was banned in September 2023 by the ICC, but the ban had a six-month suspension and now, after having fulfilled all the criteria, which also included anti-corruption education. 

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in a statement said, "As per the terms of the sanction, Nasir Hossain has now fulfilled all requirements, including completing the mandatory Anti-Corruption Education session. This has paved the way for his eligibility to re-enter official cricket as of April 7, 2025.”

Hossain, one of the talented Bangladesh cricketers to have represented the country, came into the limelight with his brilliant performance during the 2012 Asia Cup, when Bangladesh made the final for the first time in their history. In that tournament, he scored 165 runs at an average of 55.
