Ahead of the Sydney derby between the Thunder and Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25, parts of the roof of the Bill O’Reilly stand at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) fell off due to poor weather in the city. The incident saw the fans evacuate from the stand, but the issue has since been solved, and the game got underway after that. Winds at 52 KMPH has made the conditions even worse for cricket.

This comes a day after another bizarre incident at the Gabba, where a fire was seen in the DJ corner of the ground. The game between Hobart Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat was thus halted for several minutes .
The rain interruption in Sydney reduced the contest to 19 overs per side. Moreover, rain played spoilsport in the sixth over, causing the players to run off the field.
David Warner has once again looked in sublime form after his side was put into bat first. He may have lost his opening partner Sam Konstas (9) early, but he is going strong, unbeaten on 22 off just 14 deliveries.
