The BCCI have announced the annual player retainship for the year 2020-21. As many as 28 cricketers have received BCCI contracts and have been divided into four categories. While Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have retained their A+ grade category, the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav, who were earlier in the A grade have gone down to B and C categories respectively. Hardik Pandya has moved from B to A grade, while fast bowler Shardul Thakur too gets a promotion of sorts, moving up to B from C.

Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel have received contracts for the first time in their careers. The trio have been named in the C grade and will get a fee of INR 1 crore from the BCCI, while out of favour Kedar Jadhav and Manish Pandey miss out altogether.
Those named in the A+ grade will receive INR 7 crore, the ones in the B and C categories will get INR 5 and INR 3 crore.
