BCCI Informs Franchises To Assemble Players By May 13 Ahead Of IPL 2025 Resumption: Reports

The call to suspend IPL 2025 temporarily was taken on May 9 (Friday) amid the growing tensions at the border

The BCCI has instructed the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to assemble their players by May 13 (Tuesday) ahead of the restart of the 2025 season, according to a report on the Indian Express. All IPL teams except the Punjab Kings (PBKS) have been told to assemble at their venues. PBKS, on the other hand, will come together at a neutral venue.

It is understood that many players, including the overseas ones, returned home after the IPL was suspended on May 9 (Friday) amid the escalating tensions at the India-Pakistan borders. However, the franchises have been told to make arrangements for such players to be brought back.

The IPL is expected to be completed as per the scheduled date of May 25, with the BCCI planning to add more double-headers to end the tournament on time.

“All franchises have been told to inform its team to report to their respective destination by Tuesday. Punjab will have a neutral venue, so their destination is yet to be confirmed. The board is planning to have more double headers so that they can finish the IPL as per its scheduled day,” a source in the Indian board told the Indian Express.

17 more matches are to be played, including the PBKS vs Delhi Capitals (DC) clash, which was suspended after just 10.1 overs. According to multiple reports, IPL 2025 is expected to resume on May 15 or 16.

With the ceasefire declared on May 10 (Saturday), the BCCI has planned to resume the tournament quickly, but with Pakistan violating the agreement, it is yet to be seen if the tournament resumes as planned by the BCCI.

To completely avoid the conflict, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai are reportedly the venues where the rest of the tournament could be played.
