Stokes awaiting knee scan results ahead of County Championship
Stokes had opted out of IPL 2022 draft due to international commitments
Ben Stokes' involvement in England's County Championship has been delayed as he awaits the results for his knee scans after returning from the Test series against West Indies.
Stokes suffered a side strain during the 2021-22 Ashes which prompted the England team management to monitor his bowling workload in the series against the Windies which England lost 1-0.
The allrounder had hoped to few County games for Durham ahead of the series against New Zealand in June, but the pain he felt in his knee during the series in the Caribbean has thrown his participation under doubt.
"I think it was pretty obvious that I was struggling with my knee a bit out in the Caribbean. At the moment there is no training. So I will go and get the scans and then we can find out what's going on, and then hopefully can make a plan from there," Stokes said on the Round the Wicket podcast.
Durham are set to begin their County Championship against Glamorgan on Thursday.
