It is official, the Delhi Capitals (DC) have acquired local boy Nitish Rana ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in an all-cash trade for INR 4.2 crore, on November 15 (Saturday). Rana represented the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 2024 season, scoring 217 runs, including a high score of 81 against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
However, with the acquisition of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, the Royals already have a crowded middle-order. Hence, the franchise have let go of Rana, as the Capitals will now bolster their middle-order, which could be a sign that KL Rahul could return as an opener in IPL 2026.
Not just that, DC’s middle-order batter, Donovan Ferreira, moves to RR in a similar arrangement, for INR 1 crore – a revised price. IPL, on their X, also confirmed Mohammad Shami’s trade deal, as the Indian pacer moves to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 10 crore.
Interestingly, though, IPL also posted that the Royals have acquired Ravindra Jadeja at INR 14 crore, and not INR 18 crore, alongside Sam Curran for INR 2.4 crore. It is yet to be seen if Jadeja is going to be named as the Royals’ skipper.
Mumbai Indians (MI) too made another interesting deal, signing Mayank Markande, in an all-cash deal at INR 30 lakhs.
