Buttler ruled out of the remaining white-ball matches against Sri Lanka

The England wicketkeeper has suffered a small tear on his right calf

England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the rest of the white-ball matches against Sri Lanka due to a calf injury. Buttler, who scored a match-winning 68 in the first T20 International (T20), underwent an MRI scan on his right calf on Thursday (June 24) in Cardiff.

He felt some discomfort after his knock in the first T20I and as a result missed out on the second game, paving way for Jonny Bairstow to keep wickets. The results showed that he had suffered a small tear.

Buttler will now return home and begin his rehab. Dawid Malan has now been added to England's One-Day International (ODI) squad. England have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series and are set to play the final match of the series on Saturday (June 26) in Southampton.

The ODI series will begin on Tuesday (June 29) also at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. There will be a toss-up between Bairstow and Sam Billings to keep wickets in the 50-over format.
