Chennai Super Kings, who are waiting for their third RT-PCR test result, will begin their training on August 19 (Thursday) at the ICC Academy in Dubai. Cricket.com understands that the players will be given a brief at 3 PM and the training will go on from 6 PM to 9 PM UAE time.
“Please, ensure masks are worn when moving around the hotel public areas all time and until you board the bus. Please ensure masks are worn in public areas once we reach the ICC cricket academy the only time you are allowed not to use the mask is when you are training,” the SOP, which is in possession of Cricket.com, stated.
CSK are currently placed at the second position on the points table with five wins and two losses and have 10 points in total from seven matches. They are only behind Delhi Capitals who started their preparation last week in the Emirates City. As they get back to the UAE, where they had a disastrous campaign last year, a lot will be riding on how their experienced players step up to the plate to ensure a berth in the knock-outs.
Other franchises are slowly planning their way to the Emirates with their Indian contingent and foreign players joining them after the conclusion of their international and League commitments. Stephen Fleming and Laxmipathy Balaji, the team’s Head coach and bowling coach respectively, will oversee the training camp and acclimatize themselves for the tournament that resumes on September 19 in Dubai.
CSK will face arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in their first encounter of the second leg.
