WATCH: CLUTCH Siraj Cleans Up Crawley In Final Over With Perfect Inswinger

Just like that, Siraj negated the biggest threat in the chase, the opening partnership of Crawley-Duckett

It was in a very similar backdrop that this entire series came to life at Lord’s on day three. Zak Crawley was the batter on strike, and he deliberately wasted time to ensure he does not face more than one over. What happened after that is history; all hell broke loose.

As Crawley once again pulled out before a delivery in the dying moments today, Shubman Gill and India saw the funny side of it. Crawley had a wry smile on his face too, very well knowing what he had just done.

At Lord’s, it was England and Crawley who had the last laugh as they went to stumps unscathed, but just when it looked like the hosts had got off to another perfect start in pursuit of a 370+ chase, Mohammed Siraj produced a moment of absolute magic.

With two balls left in the day, India smartly pushed the fielder at mid-wicket to the boundary, sowing the ‘short ball’ seed in Crawley’s mind.

As Siraj steamed in, the England opener was all ready to negate the short ball, but what unfolded instead ended up completely bamboozling him. Out of nowhere, Siraj unleashed the perfect inswinging yorker which ended up rattling the right-hander’s stumps. Crawley was so unprepared for the full inswinger that all his weight was on his backfoot as the ball went through the gate and crashed into off-stump.

And just like that, Siraj had negated the biggest threat in the chase, the opening partnership of Crawley-Duckett. If India do end up winning the game tomorrow, it goes without saying that they will look back at this delivery as the moment that sealed the game for them.

Fittingly, it was Siraj’s 100th wicket away from home.
