Covid-19 Scare Hits IPL 2025 As Travis Head Tests Positive
He will miss the clash against LSG on Monday
Travis Head’s arrival in India has been delayed, and he will not be featuring in the clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 19 (Monday) after testing positive for Covid-19. The development was confirmed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach Daniel Vettori.
“He had Covid-19, and unfortunately, he couldn’t travel,” Vettori told reporters ahead of the LSG clash.
“We’re hopeful of having him back for the next game once he’s fully recovered and cleared to join the squad.”
It remains to be seen whether this development will affect Head’s travel plans. SRH are already out of the playoff race and originally, Head was scheduled to travel to India to play three games and fly back to Australia.
Now, even if he travels to India, Head will just be playing two games across a span of three days before flying back to Australia. The explosive left-handed batter has been named in Australia’s World Test Championship Final squad. He opened in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka but will move back to the usual No.5 slot come the big final.
Head has thus far had a disappointing IPL 2025, scoring 281 runs at an average of 28.10.
