A 115-run opening stand between Faf du Plessis (62) and Johnson Charles (74) allowed St Lucia Kings (SLK) to return to winning ways in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, defeating St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (SKNP) by five wickets at the Daren Sammy Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet.
Josh Clarkson and Wanindu Hasaranga picked up two wickets apiece but could not prevent the Kings from getting over the line with 21 balls to spare.
Earlier, Andre Fletcher (62) and Rilee Rossouw (50) scored fifties to take the Patriots to a competitive total of 175/5 in their 20 overs. Alzarri Joseph picked up a couple of wickets, while Roston Chase, David Wiese and Shadrack Descarte chipped in with a wicket apiece.
With this win, St Lucia move to third in the table with six points from five matches. The Patriots, on the other hand, have won just one oft their seven matches so far and are rooted to the bottom of the points table.
SLK take on Antigua and Barbuda Falcons (ABF) in their next match on September 15 (Sunday) in Gros Islet, while SKN will face Barbados Royals (BR) on September 17 (Tuesday) in Bridgetown.
