Harmanpreet Kaur, captain of the Mumbai Indians, hit one of the best sixes of the tournament when she smashed Titas Sadhu of the Delhi Capitals in match 13 of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 on February 28 (Friday).
The shot reminded people of the winning six hit by Indian cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the final of the 2011 World Cup against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium.
Playing on the front foot, Harmanpreet just whacked the short-length ball from Sadhu in a shot that could be called a front-arm jab for six that went into the stands at deep mid-wicket.
The flow of Harman’s arms, the swing of the bat and the follow-through to finish that shot, all of it was perfectly in sync, just like Dhoni’s on that day.
However, that six remained only one of the very few good pieces of cricket for the Mumbai side in the game. They were eventually restricted to 123/9 in their 20 overs, their lowest total this season and third lowest in the tournament's history.
