Deepti Sharma Becomes First RTM’d Player In WPL History, Sold For INR 3.2 Cr
She also became the second-ever Indian to fetch more than 3 crore
History has been scripted in New Delhi as India’s Deepti Sharma has become the first player in Women’s Premier League (WPL) history to be secured in the auction using the Right To Match (RTM) card. Released ahead of the WPL 2026 mega auction, Deepti entered with a base price of 50 lakh.
It was Delhi Capitals (DC) who made the first and only bid and they seemed to have secured Deepti at just 50 lakh. However, that’s when UP Warriorz entered the picture and said that they wanted to use the RTM.
Now, as per the new rule, DC had the option of quoting a new figure and remarkably, the three-time finalists quoted INR 3.2 crore. As it turned out, the Warriorz were happy enough to retain Deepti at 3.2 crore, 60 lakhs higher than what they bought her for at the first mega auction.
This means that Deepti now becomes only the second-ever Indian player, after Smriti Mandhana, to fetch over 3 crore at the auction.
