MS Dhoni was on a roll on April 14 (Monday) in the match between Lucknow Super Giants and the Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Not only did Dhoni attempt a successful stumping of Ayush Badoni, but he also ran out Abdul Samad in one of the most amazing ways possible. The run-out by Dhoni was something that is hard to even imagine, let alone execute.
After his brilliant showing on the field behind the stumps and also as a captain by rotating his bowlers, Dhoni wielded the willow in a stupendous fashion, hitting four fours and a six in his unbeaten 26-run knock off just 11 balls.
As a result of all this, the 43-year-old was named Player of the Match at the end of CSK’s five-wicket win. However, Dhoni was surprised at the selection, saying, "Even today I was like - "why are they giving me the award?" Noor bowled really well.”
With this, Dhoni became the oldest player to win a Player of the Match award in IPL history. At 43 years and 280 days of age, Dhoni broke Pravin Tambe’s record of being the oldest player to win the Player of The Match award.

Dhoni, winning his 16th Player of the Match award as captain, did so after a gap of 2175 days (5 years, 11 months and 13 days), with his last award coming way back in 2019 in a match against Delhi Capitals at Chepauk. In that game, he hit 22-ball 44 and executed two stumpings.
