Dhruv Jurel smashed just his second ton in first-class cricket, when he remained unbeaten on 113 off just 132 deliveries in the first unofficial Test against Australia A in Lucknow on September 18 (Thursday).
He has put on 181 for the fifth wicket with Devdutt Padikkal (86*), which has put India A in a commanding position. However, India A still trail Australia A by 129 runs after the visitors posted 532/6.
This knock comes at a great time for Jurel, as India will begin their home Test season, from October 2 onwards, against the visiting West Indies side. With Rishabh Pant's return not confirmed yet, Jurel has put himself in a prime position to don the gloves in his absence.
Jurel has been in excellent form in first-class cricket, with his previous six innings reading: 19, 34, 52, 28, 94 & 53*.
On the recent tour of England, Jurel filled in for Pant whenever required, and when the latter was ruled out of the series, he was roped in the XI. In his five Tests so far, the 24-year-old has scored 255 runs at 36.42, to go with his nine catches and two stumpings behind the wickets.
Earlier today, India A skipper Shreyas Iyer failed to make the best of his chance as he was dismissed for just eight. He will hope to make amends in the remainder of the series as he looks to push for a return to the Indian side.
